The primary duties and job focus of this position will be to design, implement, and maintain all server systems and associated hardware and software relating to DMP to manage systems and ensure a reliable, secure and cost effective Information Technology infrastructure and operation.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the day-to-day operation of company servers including hardware/software support, diagnostics, and special projects.
  • Ensure 24/7 High Availability on all DMP Entre systems and applications.
  • Assists in documenting, maintaining, and enhanceing existing DMP servers including but not limited to: Local servers (physical and virtual) and remote servers (Connectria) and Applications.
  • Collaborates with Web Services development engineers and provides technical and procedural direction regarding server design, data base design and selection and other areas as needed and requested to insure proper functionality of software applications and programs.
  • Analyzes and troubleshoots the server logs and tracks the nature and resolution of problems; monitors usage to ensure security of data and access privileges. 
  • Builds, and maintains the servers and associated hardware and software required for development work, internal testing, customer testing and production environments.
  • Documents, maintains, and enhances existing DMP servers and associated hardware and software including but not limited to: Local servers (physical and virtual) and remote servers and Applications.
  • Provides direction in complex problem solving situations and participates in direct interaction with internal staff as required.
  • Establishes and maintains DMP server user accounts, profiles, file sharing, access privileges and security.
  • Performs and/or oversees network and server software and application installation and upgrades.
  • Maintains site licenses for department / organization. Maintains file version consistency across all servers.
  • Maintains backup / restore & disaster recovery preparedness.
  • Establishes and performs maintenance programs following company and vendor standards.
  • Ensures timely user notification of maintenance requirements and effects on system availability.
  • Documents server problems and resolutions for future reference.
  • Assists as needed and as requested with the design, maintainance, and enhancement of existing DMP servers and associated hardware and software.
  • Maintains proficiency and stays abreast of all current technology and opportunities concerning IT related hardware and software.
  • Maintains confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed by the network.
  • Observes company policies.
  • Contributes to team effort.
  • Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Information Systems.
  • Experience must include building and deploying servers, installing, maintaining, and patching Linux and Windows operating systems, and supporting production applications in a 24x7 environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of firewalls, load balancers, web and database servers  
  • Strong experience in an environment comprised of multiple web-enabled applications including experience supporting Apache, Tomcat,  Jrun, and Jboss; Ruby on Rails web application framework;  Perl, Shell, and  HTTP, as well as standard systems level support to include enterprise monitoring and diagnostics.
